Swayzee waited patiently at the SPCA of Southwest Michigan shelter for nearly two and a half years. The senior dog was a staff and volunteer favorite, but struggled to find a forever home. In addition to being a senior dog, Swayzee is also deaf. This made it even harder for him to find his perfect person.
@oliviaboblet Who doesnt love the happiest ending ever. Sweet boy went to the best home♥️ #dogs
Despite his long shelter stay, Swayzee is described as an intelligent dog who loves to play ball, adores people, and can brighten anyone’s day. He even knows sign language! Fortunately, Swayzee eventually found a home to call his own!
In an emotional video shared by shelter volunteer Olivia Boblet on TikTok, shares the dead dog’s story. The video is a compilation of adorable clips of Swayzee. Text overlay explains his deafness and long shelter stay. The text also shares that when Swayzee’s eventual adopter came in, they specifically asked for a deaf dog. Swayzee was the perfect fit for this wonderful human.
Viewers were ecstatic that Swayzee finally found his happy ending. Even more perfectly, a follow-up comment shared by Olivia offers even more insight into the situation. It reads “It was a man who was also hard of hearing and his wife and him promised to only adopt deaf dogs”. After the man’s wife passed away, it seemed he wanted to honor that promise. Hopefully, he and Swayzee get to share many wonderful years together!
