Ok, so there are good veggie burgers, then there are seriously amazing veggie burgers…and this is one of the seriously amazing types! This thing is protein-packed, holds its shape,has just the right texture, and tastes unbelievable! Make it today people – it’s too good to wait!

Ingredients You Need for Chickpea and Onion Veggie Burgers [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

The Awesome Patty:
  • 1 can chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • ½ brown onion
  • ½ cup besan (chickpea) flour
  • 1 tblsp olive oil
  • ½ cup fresh chopped cilantro
  • 2 tsp garam masala spice
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • a pinch of sea salt
  • 2 cloves of garlic, quartered
Yummy Tahini Sauce:
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • ¼ cup filtered water
  • 1 tblsp lemon juice
  • a pinch of sea salt
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
Fresh Burger Fillings:
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1tblsp lemon juice
  • 1 onion, grilled or not, you decide
  • lettuce or baby spinach leaves
  • fresh tomato
  • cucumber

How to Prepare Chickpea and Onion Veggie Burgers [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

  1. Place all of the ingredients for The Awesome Patty in your food processor and blitz until combined but not pureed.
  2. Form the mixture into four patties of equal size and put in the fridge while you get everything else ready.
  3. For the Yummy Tahini Sauce, put the water and tahini in a small bowl and whisk them together until combined, then add the rest of the ingredients.  Mix them all together with a spoon until it forms a sauce like texture.  Put the sauce in the fridge while you cook the burgers.
  4. Cook The Awesome Patties in a fry pan over a medium heat in some avocado oil (or whatever you like to fry burgers in) for about 3-5 minutes in each side (depending how well you like them cooked).
  5. For the Fillings, use whatever burger buns you prefer and use a fork to mash up the ripe avocado with the lemon juice and spread this on the buns.  Then put the patty on the avocado, then the onion, tahini sauce and other fillings. Then get ready for one of the best burgers you’ve ever eaten, for real.
