These People Found a Turtle Wrapped in a Ghost Fishing Net and Did the Most Heroic Thing (VIDEO)

Humans are responsible for dumping over 8.8 million tons of trash into the world’s oceans every year. The majority of this garbage is plastic, which we know is particularly harmful to marine animals because it never breaks down. It is estimated that around 700 marine species are in danger of extinction because of plastic Pollution. Sea turtles are particularly affected by this trash as they often mistake floating plastic bags for food. An international study from the University of Queensland discovered that 50 percent of sea turtles have plastic in their stomachs. Not only this, but turtles are also the common victims of ghost fishing nets.

The turtle in this video found himself tied up in a net, with no hope of escape. Luckily, a group of people spotted him and jumped into action. It almost seems as if the turtle knows that these humans were there to help him. He makes no effort to move away from their head pats and looks downright relaxed towards the end!
