In a surprising move by a mainstream media outlet, NBC’s Today show presented a segment on how to avoid GMO foods last week.
The video, titled “GMOs are Here to Stay – Should You Be Worried?” is a sort of eerie premonition of possible things to come.
“Although the FDA says that genetically modified ingredients in food are safe, some still believe they may be harmful,” the video’s description states. “NBC diet and nutrition editor Madelyn Fernstrom reveals how to tell whether there are genetically modified organisms in what you’re eating.”
While it’s surprising to see, this may be mainstream media’s attempt to catch up on the news that most people don’t want GMOs in their food, following the public applause following recent changes to non-GMO from Cheerios and Grape Nuts.
The video does state that “while GMOs remain a safe part of the food supply from a regulatory standpoint, there are increasing options if you choose to eliminate them from your diet.” We wonder what NBC’s Big Food advertisers had to say about this.

It is a pleasant surprise to see a mainstream show addressing a concern that many people have! Because until I see solid, independent proof that GMOs are completely safe, from an independently funded, long-term, well-conducted study, I am taking a default-deny stance.
Common sense tells me, if it’s not part of the natural world and it’s not offering me amazing benefits like super-powers or something, not to put it in my body!
