Dogs Are Being Injected With Insecticides at Cruel Research Facility – Act to Stop This!

A PETA investigation uncovered unimaginable horrors for cats and dogs at Liberty Research. The investigation lists the many cruelties faced by animals inside what they refer to as “…a cluster of nondescript, windowless buildings in central New York.” Many are hard to stomach but all of them are difficult to process. Dogs were injected with insecticides, dogs had holes drilled in their heads so viruses could be put directly into their brains, cats suffocated in flipped-over litter boxes, and others starved in large rooms where they were unable to compete for food. It’s all very disturbing.

PETA writes, “These shameful scenes, revealed in a PETA eyewitness investigation, were business as usual at Liberty Research, Inc. (Liberty), a multimillion-dollar contract testing laboratory and dog and cat breeding company whose workers tormented animals, engaged in bad science, cut corners to increase profits, and fostered a pervasive culture of animal neglect.”

It gets worse, “Liberty uses hundreds of dogs and cats each year in cruel tests—many of them for veterinary drugs—that it carries out for pharmaceutical giants such as Bayer, Novartis, and Merck. Liberty also breeds and sells thousands of dogs and cats to be used in experiments by companies such as Merial, government agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and schools such as Michigan State University and the Universities of Pittsburgh, Florida, and Louisville.”

The investigation reports that the businesspeople who hire Liberty often tour the facility and know exactly what’s happening — which reminds us that we, the consumers, have to make change because they surely won’t.

Animal testing, simply put, doesn’t make any sense. Better alternatives exist, testing on animals doesn’t help gauge human reactions at all, and cruelty-free brands, which are on the rise, show that you don’t need animal testing to make a quality, safe product. Many organizations, like PETA, are fighting animal testing — and they’re winning. Change is happening. Many countries have even banned animal testing altogether.

Sign the petitions, here and here, and fight animal testing. There are zero justifications for animal testing. It’s outdated, inhumane, and disgusting. Animals deserve better than this.
