35 dogs, found cowering in fear, are now safe with Sichuan Qiming Animal Protection Centre (SQAPC), a group supported and mentored by Animals Asia, after being rescued from an illegal dog meat trade. Of these dogs, many had collars and others were pure bred, strongly suggesting that they were stolen from families and owners. This is just one among many illegal rings in the dog meat trade, but, thankfully, this one was stopped.
Animals Asia’s Cat and Dog Welfare Director Irene Feng said: “These dogs are alive because the police acted to save them. Few dog thief gangs have been arrested in Chengdu, but since our meeting with the authorities in February, we have found they are very keen to stamp out this illegality … Now that they know how the criminals are operating and the cruelty and sadness they are causing to animals and humans, we can expect to see more strong action from the authorities.”
To help these dogs, please donate to Animals Asia and sign their letter to end the dog meat trade. The business of dog meat is slowing in China — where many restaurants that serve dog meat are closing. More and more organizations are stepping in and rescuing these dogs who so desperately need our help. Countries, like Bali, have banned the consumption of dog meat, and other countries, like the U.S., are currently writing the legislation.
No animal, of any kind, should be forced to suffer as dogs within the dog meat trade do. Just because it’s existed for a long time doesn’t mean it has to exist in the future.

Please note that Bali is not a country. It is an island in the country of Indonesia.
While the governor of Bali has issued a decree outlawing the dog meat trade (Animals Asia\’s press release is here: https://www.animalsaustralia.org/media/press_releases.php?release=238), the dog meat trade is increasing in Indonesia generally.
Organizations fighting to end the dog meat trade there include Jakarta Animal Aid Network and Change for Animals Foundation (https://www.changeforanimals.org/ending-the-dog-meat-trade-in-indone).
GREAT POLICE TO SAVE THESE 35 GREAT LIVES FROM THIS.
