Ingredients You Need for Garlic Knots [Vegan]
How to Prepare Garlic Knots [Vegan]
Garlic Pizza Dough:
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm water, sugar, oil, and yeast. Let sit for 15 minutes so the yeast can activate.
- Pour in the flour, salt, garlic powder, parsley flakes, oregano, and minced garlic.
- Using the dough hook attachment on low speed (2), mix the wet and dry ingredients together until the dough begins to form.
- Turn speed up to medium (3-4), let knead for 6-8 minutes.
- Remove dough from dough hook, place in bowl and form into a ball. Pour a bit of oil (roughly 1/2 tbsp) over the dough and coat the bottom and sides of the bowl so it doesn't stick when it rises.
- Cover with a tea towel and place in a warm place to rise for 40 minutes to one hour. I like to preheat the oven on low, then turn it off and open the oven door to let some heat escape. Once the oven is cooled slightly, I stick the bowl in there to let the dough rise.
Vegan Garlic Butter:
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low to medium heat.
- Mix in garlic powder, parsley flakes, and oregano.
Vegan Garlic Knots:
- Preheat oven to 420°F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen - roughly doubled in size - cut it in half (if you plan on using the full dough, double the rest of the ingredients).
- Cut the dough into 4-8 evenly-sized pieces - depending on how big you want your garlic knots to be. Roll the pieces of dough into balls, then roll into a long strip.
- Tie the dough into knots and place them on the baking sheet.
- Brush the knots with the garlic butter. Top with vegan cheese and/or simulated bacon bits.
- Bake at 420°F for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with marina sauce to dip!
