Natural disasters affect humans and animals alike and can flip the world upside down in an instant. Unfortunately, in the midst of the chaos and confusion, many animals become fearful and run and hide to escape, leaving their loving guardians inconsolable. Sadly, this is what happened to an adorable senior chihuahua named Geordie and his doting dog mom Karen Calcaño.
According to a petition on Care2, Calcaño had to evacuate her Fort Lauderdale home in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Calcaño, her partner, two birds, and two dogs fled for safety to a family home in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is when her 15-year-old chihuahua (who is deaf) named Geordie escaped. Luckily, Geordie was picked up by a kind Samaritan and his young daughter who were seen canvassing the surrounding area asking if people knew who Geordie’s guardian is.
Geordie requires special care and needs medicine, so please help get the word out and share this so we can bring Geordie home!
