Raccoons are very interesting animals. They’re one of the few non-primates that rely on their hands as much as they rely on their senses of sight and smell to navigate the world.
The baby raccoons in this clip are former residents of the awesome Cape Wildlife Center in Cape Cod. They were orphaned at a young age, so the staff took on the role of parenting and raising the little ones. While teaching a baby raccoon all they needed to know to survive in the wild might have been a large task, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t fun too!
It might look like the babies were getting into some wet and wild shenanigans, but splashing around in the water actually helped them build dexterity in their front paws. That dexterity will certainly come in handy when these little ones are out foraging for food.
The Wildlife Center is happy to report that these little ones have since been returned to the wild! To learn more about this amazing group and the animals in their care, visit their Facebook.
