Though we’re far from pool season, this sweet Labrador helps us feel like we’re getting there.
She got a kiddie pool for her birthday, and she’s splishin’ and a splashin’ when nature calls. And when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. But this Lab is not a silly pup, so she politely steps out of the pool and onto the grass. Who would want to ruin a perfectly clean and brand new birthday pool? We only wish her guardian would’ve given her a little privacy! Poor girl probably doesn’t even know it’s on the internet.
But hey, at least she’s setting a great example for other Labs who might be stumbling through those house-training stages.
For anyone trying to house train a new pup and want them to be as polite as this amazing Lab, we have a few tips, thanks to the ASPCA. Please, don’t ever rub your pup’s nose in their waste, and definitely don’t physically punish your dog for accidents — this includes putting them in a crate. Instead, try lots of positive reinforcement whenever your dog does use the bathroom outside. This can include treats, vocal praise, playing or a walk. Try to keep your pup on a consistent feeding schedule, and thus a consistent schedule for bathroom breaks. For other great tips, check out the ASPCA’s website.
Thanks for setting such a good example, pretty Lab. And happy birthday!
