It’s a Wednesday evening. You realize you didn’t pick up some of the ingredients for dinner, so you head to your local supermarket. You look through the produce and bread aisles. Then, with shock, you notice that among all the pantry-related items, there’s also a vending machine selling ammo for guns.
These bullet-selling vending machines are now installed in grocery stores in Texas, Alabama, and Oklahoma, with additional machines planned for Colorado. Supermarkets in other states have also contacted the company involved to request this deadly equipment.
Research shows that as access to guns – or ammo – increases, so do the rates of murder and suicide using firearms. In the first six months of 2024, the U.S. already bore witness to approximately 9,000 gun homicides, 17,000 gun-related injuries, and 284 mass shootings. Those numbers don’t even include people taking their own lives using this deadly weaponry.
