Aalborg Zoo in Denmark has launched a shocking campaign asking the public to Donate “unwanted pets” like rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, and even small horses to be euthanized and fed whole—fur, bones, and all—to captive predators such as lions, lynx, and tigers. The zoo even encourages horse owners by pointing out that their donation could be tax-deductible. This grotesque practice treats beloved companion animals as disposable commodities.
Zoo officials defend the program as “common” in Denmark, but exploiting healthy pets as feed is neither ethical nor humane. If the zoo cannot provide for its animals without turning to this disturbing scheme, it should not be allowed to keep them in captivity at all. Instead, these wild animals deserve transfer to reputable sanctuaries where they can live with dignity.
Sign the petition now to demand Aalborg Zoo’s closure and protect both pets and wildlife.
