A 37-year-old man has been charged following the discovery of numerous dead animals and birds outside a shop in a quaint Hampshire village in England. On March 15, the lifeless bodies of 50 hares, a kestrel, and a barn owl were left outside Broughton Community Shop, located on High Street.
James Kempster, a resident of Marchwood Road in Totton, has been charged by Hampshire Police with offenses including the possession of wild birds and criminal damage. The investigation, conducted by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary’s country watch team and the criminal investigation department, led to Kempster’s upcoming court appearance on September 10 at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
The incident has caused significant concern within the local community, and authorities are continuing to address the situation.
