There is nothing quite like the love of a mother. They worry about our wellbeing, they always put our needs before theirs, and they will do anything to protect us. Animal mothers are no different. We’ve seen a brave mama fetch her pup from oncoming traffic in the knick of time, a courageous mama cat jump into a fire for her babies, and a sweet mama cow refuse to leave her baby’s injured side. It’s clear that there are no lengths a mom won’t go to to protect her kin.
The mama cow in the video above is no exception. First, we see her baby calf, letting out distressed cries after being momentarily separated from her. Unfortunately, the calf’s cries not only reached the mama’s ears – but those of a nearby lion, who begins to make his way towards the baby. Just as we begin bracing ourselves for the worst, the mama cow bursts out from the tall grass and storms at the lion. Yeah, mama! Witnessing this mother risk her life to protect her baby is not only heartwarming but it reminds us of how similar these animals are to us, and how much they care for their babies. We’re glad the ending was happy for these two!
