Did you know dogs use their tongues like a spoon to scoop water up into their mouths?
This slow motion clip is from “Secret Life of Dogs,” narrated by Martin Clunes. It shows us in an up close and personal way what is going on when a dog laps up water. We thought the tongue would curl the other way, but you can’t argue with a camera!
It looks like a pretty messy way to drink (and it explains those puddles around the dog’s water bowl), but it’s still an incredible adaptation. It’s like dogs carry around a built in drinking cup in their mouths! No tools or thumbs needed here. But that’s just one of the many things you probably didn’t know about dogs.
