In a significant policy shift, the Biden administration has updated vehicle fuel efficiency standards, setting ambitious goals for American automakers. By 2031, the administration requires that passenger cars achieve an average of 65 miles per gallon, marking a substantial increase from today’s average of 48.7 miles per gallon.
