Cat Saves an Abandoned Baby From the Cold (VIDEO)

Masha is a hero. Though the cat had been living at an apartment complex in the Russian town, Obninsk, for years, she never had a guardian. Neighbors fed her and gave her attention, and she was allowed to stay indoors.

Nadezhda Makhovikova, who lives in this apartment block, told REN TV that she ventured into her building’s stairwell when she heard a cat meowing in distress. She found Masha curled up in a box someone that had left for her. When she looked inside, she found Masha was curled up with a human baby.

“She has been keeping the baby warm for several hours and meowing to call for help,” states Makhovikova.

Though the baby was found with a bag of food and clothes and looked healthy, he had been abandoned in the box. The 12 week old would not have survived the hours he spent there if it wasn’t for the care he was given by Masha. When an ambulance worker came to take the baby, Masha followed close behind, keeping an eye on her adopted child.

According to Makhovikova, the cat even tried to jump in the ambulance, showing all the signs of a worried mother.

At the hospital, it was determined that the baby was healthy, and he is being well-taken care of while a search goes out for his parents. Masha is now living the life at her apartment complex and is treated like a hero, receiving lots of extra love and attention for her amazing actions.
