The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) of Britain was out on one of their routine training exercises when they spotted something unusual. A springer spaniel was trapped on the cliffs near Devon! Like any Green Monsters would, the workers of RNLI sprang into action to help rescue the springer spaniel.
One of the workers, Helmsman Andrew Escott managed to climb up to get the dog. No one could figure out how the little dog had gotten himself in such a precarious situation. It took a lot of effort, but RNLI was able to rescue the dog and bring him safely back to shore.
It was only after RNLI had brought the dog back to the Minehead lifeboat station and given him some much needed food and water that they discovered the dog they had just rescued was actually the subject in a massive search by his worried guardians, Mark and Susie Sanders.
Sprig, as he was named, was lost for nine days and his family was becoming convinced he must have wandered off or been stolen. He had gone missing while they were walking him near the cliffs.
Naturally, the Sanders said that hearing Sprig had been found was “the best news ever.” We would agree.
