This little guy just can’t decide if he’s upset or tired. Just like a human kid throwing a tantrum because he doesn’t want to nap, this baby monkey throws a fit right up until 1:10. At that point, nap time enforces itself.
No one knows what happened to this baby monkey’s mom, but what we do know is he was kept as a pet by several families before he came to the Bambelela, a rehabilitation center for vervet monkeys in South Africa. It will take about 4-5 years before he can be returned to the wild with a new troop.
Despite how human monkeys seem, and despite their cuteness, they are not pets. Taking them out of the wild and away from their mothers, no matter how well a person might care for them, is always wrong. This adorable little guy will be his happiest and most fulfilled monkey-self when he’s back in the wild with his own species.
