Baby Goat Doesn’t Have a Mom so His Hooman is Teaching Him to Jump (VIDEO)

When Johnnie the pygmy goat lost his sibling, his mother stopped feeding him and rejected him out of depression. Without a mother to care for him, the task of teaching him one of the most quintessential goat behaviors, jumping for joy, falls upon his human caretaker.

At the start of the lesson, he wags his tail while his human demonstrates as if to say, “I’m just happy to spend time with you, mom!” After a couple of demonstrations, it clicks, and baby Johnnie gives it his all with what will be the first of many jumps. Isn’t it just fantastic that he has a loving home that’s willing to teach him how to goat. 

While it may seem strange to live side-by-side with goats, who are typically seen as suited to the outdoors, it’s not so far-fetched. They’re very intelligent animals, capable of accomplishing tasks like solving puzzles. Goats also make great snuggly companions. Like a dog, they’ll follow their favorite human and seek affection.

Hey, maybe goats aren’t so different from dogs, after all!
