There’s pretty much nothing cuter than a baby elephant – except maybe two baby elephants cuddling!
A couple of years ago, the baby elephant featured in this video, Khun Dej, was rescued by the Elephant Nature Park. Since his arrival at the sanctuary, he’s learned to love life again with the help of his nannies Saree and Dami. As you can see, they’ve become close pals and truly care for one another!
Unfortunately, not all elephants are as lucky as Khun Dej. While this adorable cuddling session was performed voluntarily, many baby elephant videos feature animals in captivity who have been forcefully separated from their family. Many baby elephants are taken from their families at as young as 17 months old, forced to live in chains, and undergo tortuous training practices, all for the sake of tourist amusement.
This is especially a problem in Thailand, but thankfully Elephant Nature Park exists to provide a refuge for these formerly abused animals. The baby elephants in this video have the chance to grow up in safety and truly enjoy the fun of being young elephants!
