We’ve seen pet parents build ball tossing contraptions to provide entertainment for dogs and construct little wheelchairs for paraplegic pets. Pet parents and animal guardians are some of the most compassionate people around, dedicating a part of themselves to their animal family members. So it was not a shock when we heard about pet parents who went the extra mile to keep their pup alive.
Unable to keep food down, Bella the dog was on the verge of starving to death. It was soon learned she was suffering from megaesophagus, a condition where the muscles of the esophagus fail and it cannot propel food or water into the dog’s stomach. The esophagus expands so large that it essentially becomes a giant storage bin for food instead of sending it through to the stomach. Megaesophagus is not specific to dogs as this condition has also been reported in humans, cats, ferrets, and other animals.
Want to see something truly amazing? Watch to see the lifesaving chair Bella’s human parents built so she could eat heartily without issue!
