Long time vegan and member of the iconic rap group Wu-Tang Clan, RZA, has launched an eco-friendly, vegan jacket that utilizes recycled ocean plastic. The jacket is being released through RZA’s own fashion line called 36 Chambers.
Fifteen percent of proceeds from the jacket will go to PETA.
RZA said in a statement, “We have the ability through humane ways to fashion garments that not only serve our purpose but also, more importantly, abandon the unnecessary cruelty to animals.”
His involvement in Animal rights comes as no surprise. Not long ago, RZA also gave a speech at the Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival. He also spoke about why he is vegan on the popular Joe Rogan Podcast, saying “no animal needs to die for me to live.”
Many retailers, even stores like Macy’s and Bloomingdales, are making the change to eliminate fur from their stores, and California recently banned the sale of fur. Consumers are starting to become aware of the cruelty of fur and demanding other options.
You can help end the sale of fur by signing this petition to ban fur in New York, and this petition to ban fur imports to the UK!
We hope to see the sustainable, animal free clothing trend continue!
