Recently, however, a new threat has emerged for the Vaquita as fisheries have been allowed to participate in the captive-bred trade of totoaba fish. This opens up the doors for wild-caught totoaba, which will be caught by the industry using gillnets, and which vaquita can become entangled in. 2. Justice for Woman Who Severely Neglected 12 Dogs

A woman from Illinois was recently charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty after severely neglecting 12 dogs. The dogs were dealing with bacterial infections, skin infections, heartworm, bladder stones, malnutrition, tumors, and more. Some of the dogs also had puncture wounds on their faces and were missing parts of their ears. Please sign this petition to urge authorities in Illinois to never let this woman near any animals again!

While we may still not know the origins of covid, it’s almost a virtual certainty that we will face another more serious virus because of animal agriculture and other animal use industries. Confining billions of animals yearly to live in their feces and urine is a perfect breeding ground for infectious diseases, and the transport of animals plays a large part in that. A new bill was proposed that “would prohibit the import, export, and interstate trade of live wildlife for the purpose of human consumption.” Please sign this petition to urge legislators to pass the Prevent Future Pandemics Act!

4. Help Animals and Humans Recover from Toxic Chemical Spill

In February, a Norfolk Southern freight train derailed, caught fire, and spilled toxic chemicals along the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. Many people have become sick, several pets have died, and scientists believe the effects of this spill could last for years. Poor regulation and malpractice are the likely causes of this spill and Norfolk Southern needs to be held accountable for this. 5. Help Protect Curious and Playful Seal from Being Murdered

A sea otter in Santa Cruz, California, has become well-known over the past few weeks for hopping on people’s surfboards. Even though no one has been harmed, she hasn’t been aggressive, and the humans are in her natural habitat, authorities have labeled her as “aggressive”, which could very well put her life in danger. On top of that, authorities have already stated that they have plans to relocate her from her home. Even though Texas is the top producer of solar energy in the United States, Republican legislators in the Lone Star State have introduced several bills that would restrict wind and solar energy production and assist oil and gas production. It seems these Republicans favor small government and fewer regulations only when it suits their interests. 7. Help Protect Arctic Tern Chicks

Members of the National Trust, a Conservation organization, found more than 600 dead Arctic Tern chicks on the coast of Northumberland. Researchers believe these deaths may have been caused by bird flu, as it has already been incredibly pervasive in the United Kingdom this year. Whatever it is, these birds need to be protected. The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, just banned mandatory water breaks for workers. Considering that Texas is experiencing a severe heat wave, this ban could lead to lead to many workers coming down with heat-related illnesses. Not only is this cruel, but it could potentially be life-threatening. Please sign this petition to urge legislators in Texas to overturn this draconian law!

9. Justice for Dog Who Was Dragged Across Hot Concrete

Recently, a man in Hamilton, Ontario, dragged his dog by the leash across hot concrete as neighbors watched horrified. Animal welfare workers were able to remove the dog from this abuser, but no charges have been made. This means this man could get the dog back and abuse them even more. Please sign this petition to urge the Hamilton police to charge this man with animal cruelty!

10. Tell the United States to Protect Its Forests

Forests are burning because of Climate change but also because of deforestation, which is mostly caused by agriculture.
