David Attenborough

A new PBS moving is coming soon! EXTINCTION – THE FACTS, presented by Sir David Attenborough, premieres on PBS Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 8:00 pm ET according to PBS.

EXTINCTION-THE FACTs looks at how humans are accelerating biodiversity and species loss. Illegal wildlife trade, overfishing, Climate change, and land-use change are all challenges the species that populate our planet.

“Over the course of my life, I’ve encountered some of the world’s most remarkable species of animals,” said Sir David Attenborough in a statement. “Only now do I realize just how lucky I’ve been. Many of these wonders seem set to disappear from our planet forever. We are facing a crisis and one that has consequences for us all, but it’s not too late. I truly believe that together we can create a better future, if we make the right decisions at this critical moment.”

500 scientists have investigated and found that biodiversity is being lost faster than we’ve ever seen before. Species are now going extinct at 100 times the natural rate.

“We are honored to present this timely and relevant film from Sir David Attenborough,” said Bill Gardner, VP of Programming & Development for PBS in an emailed statement. “The film thoughtfully presents the facts associated with the significant environmental changes occurring on the planet, and we’re hopeful audiences will continue to explore what these facts could mean for our future.”

The film will stream online and be broadcast on all station-branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org and the PBS Video app.
