Stand with Ukraine sign

Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.

Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 6 petitions you should sign this week, including Support the People of Ukraine, Urge Authorities to Investigate Sir Mark Todd’s Horse Facilities, and Call on Texas Governor to Respect Trans Youth.

We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Urge the US Senate to Legalize Abortion

In 2021, there were a ton of restrictions passed in individual states to limit abortions. With conservative judges holding a majority in the Supreme Court, Roe V. Wade may even be at stake. Coming up, the Supreme Court will give their ruling regarding an abortion ban in Mississippi. However, The Women’s Health Protection Act would allow women all across the United States to have the choice to have an abortion. Please sign this petition to urge the U.S. Senate to pass this important legislation.

2. Support the People of Ukraine

Russia has invaded and attacked various cities around the country of Ukraine. The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has also engaged in cyber-attacks and disinformation. Ukrainians are fleeing the country in droves. Please sign this petition to show your Support for the people of Ukraine!

3. Call on Texas Governor to Respect Trans Youth

Texas Governor Greg Abbot is calling on private citizens and medical professionals to report parents who allow their trans kids to receive healthcare, which affirms their identity. In his eyes, this is akin to child abuse. While he doesn’t have the power to change laws himself, Abbot is supported by the Texas Attorney General. There is now evidence that shows this type of care could be considered child abuse and plenty of evidence to suggest it may help kids stay safe. Please sign this petition to urge the Governor and the Attorney General to respect the rights of trans youth.

4. Urge Authorities to Investigate Sir Mark Todd’s Horse Facilities

Sir Mark Todd, a two-time Olympic gold medalist for equestrian riding, has come under fire recently for hitting a horse several times with a branch when the horse didn’t want to walk into the water. Mark is currently a horse trainer and he owns a training space in the UK. While Mark has been banned from horseracing, there still hasn’t been an investigation into what daily life is like for horses at his facility. Please sign this petition to urge authorities to uncover the conditions and treatment of Sir Mark’s horses.

5. Ask Lawmakers to Not Allow Domestic Abusers to Own Guns

In the UK, police have returned many gun licenses in the past couple of years to domestic abuse suspects. A report has also shown that police haven’t dedicated enough resources to domestic violence cases. Please sign this petition to call on lawmakers to prohibit domestic abusers from owning guns.

6. Urge New Jersey Authorities to Find Whoever is Dumping Dogs

Two dogs were recently abandoned in New Jersey. One was malnourished and tied to a tree, and the other was found in a urine-soaked duffel bag. Dumping dogs is illegal in New Jersey and it’s clear that whoever was behind these incidents is seriously troubled. Please sign this petition to urge the police in New Jersey to attempt to find this person and give them the treatment they need.
