Ellie Laks, the founder of The Gentle Barn, has been rescuing animals for around 20 years. She rescues animals from factory farms and other inhumane conditions so that they can live out the rest of their lives with proper love and care. She also shares their stories to encourage people to live a lifestyle that does not contribute to any form of cruelty.

Due to the pandemic, many factory farms have had to start killing a massive amount of animals through a variety of cruel ways due to the inability to send them all to slaughter. Luckily, animal sanctuaries, like the Gentle Barn, have been able to rescue some of these animals.

One of the Gentle Barn’s recent rescues was a mother cow who gave birth on a slaughterhouse floor. Unfortunately, many calves born in slaughterhouses have health issues, as was the case here. Victory, a rescued calf, died three weeks after coming to the Gentle Barn. Her mother is doing well and will get to live out the rest of her life with amazing care and room to run around. She’ll never have a baby stolen from her again.
