Heartwarming Video Shows Senior Pit Bull on His Adoption Day

Marley is a senior Pit Bull mix who was surrendered to the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in South Florida when his previous family moved and was unable to continue to care for him. The odds were stacked against Marley. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, senior dogs have only a 25 percent adoption rate. Additionally, widespread breed bans make it difficult for many bully breeds to find homes that are allowed to adopt them. The combination of these two factors made it seem like the 13-year-old Pit Bull was out of luck. However, thanks to a kind family, Marley was very fortunate.

Marley spent two months in the shelter. During that time, the senior Pit Bull won staff and volunteers alike over with his friendly and gentle personality. A TikTok video highlighting his sweet disposition was posted to the rescue’s account. Only two days after the video was posted, Marley was adopted!

His new family had seen the video and was moved by the plight of the senior dog. His mom-to-be even cried after seeing the video. So, his new dad came up with a plan. While his wife was working, he went to the rescue to meet Marley. The senior Pit Bull immediately won him over. His new dad took him home that evening and surprised the family with their new best friend!

Staff from the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue shared Marley’s adoption story on TikTok. They reminded viewers that, although often overlooked, senior dogs are an amazing fit for many families. Many rescues and shelters even offer discounts for adopters of senior animals.
