Meet Piglet. He was found in a trash bin with his ears freshly chopped off and bleeding. He was likely a victim of a backyard crop job. It’s heartbreaking to imagine the pain he experienced.

Many people who adopt animals view them as their best friends, even family, and would do anything to protect them from harm. They would never put their pet through any unnecessary pain and try to always do what is best for their sweet pet. Sadly, there are people in the world who believe that certain breeds of dogs need to have their ears surgically altered or completely removed.
This extremely painful and cruel process is called ear cropping and occurs when they’re between eight and twelve weeks old. Although this practice is illegal in England and Wales, it is still legal in America and other European countries. Animals are not toys or accessories, and appearance should never come before an animal’s wellbeing.
“Ear cropping is painful and completely unnecessary. Despite what some breeders will claim, cropping a dog’s ears does not benefit them in any way. It can be detrimental to their health, behavior, and welfare in the short-term and in the long-term,” explains RSPCA dog welfare expert Dr. Samantha Gaines.

“Over the last six weeks, he’s shown how resilient and sweet he is,” said his rescuers in an update video. “He snores loudly, is the best cuddler, and loves everyone he meets,” they added.

“While we can’t change what happened to him, we can give him the chance to have an amazing life now,” said his rescuers. Piglet will be available for adoption and has such a bright future ahead of him!
