At the end of every summer, the McKamey Animal Center throws a special community event. The Carver Recreation Center allows them to host a doggie pool party before closing for the year. All proceeds from the event help to Support McKamey Animal Centers operations. The shelter is currently at maximum capacity according to their website, making this year’s fundraising efforts particularly important. The event also allows dogs in Chattanooga, TN, and the surrounding area to enjoy a fun day with their humans. In a social media post, viewers can see just how much fun the pups had at their pool party!
Participating dogs can be seen swimming, playing with squirt guns, and even going down the pool’s slide! Although others were content to sit on the side, it was clear that the dogs and their humans had a great time at the shelter’s pool party.
Swimming can be a low-impact exercise for dogs. Studies have shown that swimming may also greatly help dogs with osteoarthritis. Sadly, it can be hard for many dogs to have regular access to a pool or other place to swim. This makes events such as McKamey’s pool party even more special.
