Missouri is already referred to as the “puppy mill capital” of the country, and a new bill would make it harder for counties and cities to protect dogs from the cruelty of puppy mills. The bill, filed by a Republican Representative, would ban cities and counties from enacting laws that prohibit pet shops. The bill is, unsurprisingly, backed by Petland and other corporations that profit off of animal mistreatment and abuse. The Missouri House of Representatives has already passed this heinous bill, which means the Missouri Senate is the final shot for protecting potentially thousands of puppies from abuse in mills. Please sign this petition now to tell the Missouri Senate to vote against this bill! No more puppy mills in the state!
