Rice’s whales, who inhabit the Gulf of Mexico, are slowly disappearing. Less than 100 of these majestic and endangered marine animals are left. Luckily, there’s a solution to this problem that could potentially be very effective. Since Rice’s whales spend much of their time near the water’s surface, they are much more susceptible to vessel strikes. Creating a mandatory speed limit within their habit could drastically limit these incidents. Please sign this petition to urge NOAA to implement a speed limit of 10 knots in their habitat and help protect Rice’s whales!
