Lewis Hamilton Switches Dog to a Plant-Based Diet

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton, the British Formula One driver, has long been a proponent of a plant-based lifestyle. His journey into plant-based eating not only transformed his health but also led him to make significant dietary changes for his bulldog, Roscoe.

Hamilton’s transformation began seven years ago, driven by a desire to enhance his overall well-being. He found that a plant-based diet aligned with his ethical beliefs and personal preferences. “I was thinking about my health and fitness and what changes I could make to feel my best, and the more I started looking into plant-based diets, the more I realized this was something that could be impactful,” he shares. The results have been so favorable that he decided to invest in Bramble, a plant-based dog food brand inspired by Roscoe’s own dietary switch.

Roscoe, now 12 years old, has thrived since his diet overhaul. Hamilton recalls how his pet’s health issues began to diminish after switching from a traditional meat-based diet to a plant-based one. “Roscoe is almost like a different dog to when I first got him,” he shared.

Hamilton emphasizes the importance of ensuring that any diet—human or canine—meets nutritional needs. He conducted thorough research before making the switch for Roscoe, ensuring that the plant-based diet provided the necessary nutrients.

For Hamilton, embracing a plant-based diet was not without its challenges, especially as a professional athlete. “I think there was some misunderstanding at the time around how it would work and if I would be able to get enough protein as an athlete,” he recalls. However, he found it easy to incorporate protein-rich foods into his meals and believes in the flexibility of dietary choices. “Everyone is different, so I would never tell someone they should go plant-based, but for anyone looking to just feel or perform a little better, I do encourage them.”
