When the neighborhood kids found two orphaned baby squirrels, Izzy the Chihuahua and her Dad came to the rescue. Izzy’s Dad had prior experience with orphaned wildlife and knew how to properly take care of the male and female babies. After a vet visit and some delicious formula, Izzy got to meet the babies for the first time. She quickly fell in love and accepted the role of mommy. Izzy regularly cuddled her new, squinty babies and worked hard to keep them warm and clean. Together Izzy and her Dad successfully raised the baby squirrels, Rosco and Nikki. When the babies were old enough, they left home to live fulfilling lives as wild squirrels. Though they did make a point to come back and visit their adopted Mom regularly.
In the video you see Izzy cuddling and keeping one of her new squirrel children warm while keeping a watchful eye as she sleeps. You truly see the special bond between mother and child, even from species as different as can be.
