When approached by rescuers, injured and stray dogs are often frightened and nervous – which is perfectly understandable. Since many of these animals have already learned that trusting people is not the best idea, it can be really difficult to give them the help that the need. But other times, something completely contrary happens – almost magically, some dogs seem to know that rescuers have come for them and they instinctively seem very happy to see people.
The dog in this video, Shanti, had no doubt whatsoever that the rescuers from the Guardians of the Voiceless were friends – and she made it clear by wagging her tail from the second she set her eyes on them!
Shanti was found with a huge wound on one of her front paws. Unfortunately, it was already infected and full of maggots, and the heat only made the situation worse. She was promptly given painkillers, antibiotics, and tick treatment, her wound was treated, cleaned of maggots, and bandaged. During the entire procedure, Shanti was unbelievably patient and calm. This sweet dog will now be cared for by the Guardians who will make sure that the wound heals completely. Hopefully, once she is completely healthy again, Shanti will have much more reasons to wag her tail again!

Actually, maggots in the wound probably kept it clean and free from gangrene. The maggots (unless it was a screw-fly infestation, eat the dead and decaying flesh on the wound.
