Smurf, the kitten that was dyed blue and subjected to unimaginable cruelty, is so thankful for his shelter BFF Wanda. Wanda is a blind kitty who is his shelter roommate and she is doing such a standup job keeping him company during his recovery that he gives her a massage every day. Don’t we all need a friend like that?
Smurf was rescued by Nine Lives Foundation, a no-kill shelter in Redwood City, California. Named for his periwinkle hue, Smurf weighed in at just 1.75 pounds when he was brought in and rescuers said he appeared to have been “used as a chew toy for a larger animal (or) dog.”
Since Smurf arrived, he and Wanda have been inseparable. Thanks to his excellent care by his rescuers and, of course, Wanda, Smurf is “bright-eyed and eating like a champ!”
