While we all strive to protect our pets from the elements, sometimes we have to go above and beyond the normal call of duty – like the man in this video. He risked his life to save this struggling pup from the freezing cold water. We salute this badass rescuer – in all of his shirtless glory.

But winter is coming . . . and that means that we need to be sure that our furry compatriots stay safe, dry, and warm when it gets cold outside. If you are expecting snow and ice, you should break out your winter parka and think about getting one for your pup – they get cold too. It’s important to remember that while your animals do have fur to protect them from the elements, most of the time that’s not enough. Be sure to protect their paws from the ice balls and chemicals by outfitting them with some stylish snow booties. And this should go without saying . . . don’t leave your pets outside during the winter months or they, unfortunately, could end up like the pup in this video.
