These sweet pigs would have been doomed to a life of cruelty on a factory farm if not for the amazing escapes that landed them in Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary. Now, Toby and Baby are living their best life, mud bathing, and yes, nuzzling. How adorable are they?!
While cute, the nuzzling displayed in the video holds so much more meaning than what meets the eye. Nuzzling is a natural behavior for pigs – in fact, they love to sleep together and nuzzle just like Toby and Baby. Pigs also enjoy hanging out together, sunbathing, playing, listening to music, and getting massages! This is because pigs are extremely intelligent and social animals who crave contact. If given the opportunity, pigs will even form strong bonds with humans. Toby and Baby are two of the lucky few who have been able to experience these behaviors as most will never escape their sad fate on factory farms.
Pigs on factory farms only dream of the kind of life Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary offers their residents. They are kept in the filthiest of conditions and confined to gestation crates so tiny they can’t even turn around. Factory farmed pigs are often beaten, kicked, and stabbed only to then be sentenced to a horrific death. The worst part is that all of this is for the simple and unnecessary pleasure it brings to people’s dinner plates. While some people might find it comforting to think of pigs and other farm animals as being different from our pets, the reality is that they feel joy, pain, fear, and heartbreak the same as you and me.
Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary works to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected, and surrendered farm animals, concentrating on those who are often overlooked due to species, disability or appearance. They are transforming lives one animal at a time, showing them kindness, respect, and love – a right all animals deserve.
