Tiny Skeletal Pup Walked Into a Daycare in Search of Food – But What He Got Is Much Better!

Rescue Dogs Rock is calling for help today to save the life of a tiny little baby named Zeke!

This little boy wandered into a San Antonio daycare yesterday and then ran off before anyone could catch him. He is painfully emaciated, and without anyone to help him, Zeke was not going to make it much longer on his own.

Thankfully, when Zeke ran from the daycare, people were hot on his heels! A search party got together to track him down, and finally, after several hours of searching for him, they found Zeke! A kind person took him home to keep him safe and comfortable until the morning. 

These good Samaritans took Zeke to a vet partner of Rescue Dogs Rock’s in Texas, where he is undergoing tests and receiving lifesaving medical care. This poor little boy is only about three and a half months old, and for that age, he should weigh at least fifteen pounds.

Zeke barely weighs nine pounds. You can see every single one of his ribs, he must have been so hungry. Who knows how much longer he would have lasted if he hadn’t run into that daycare when he did? We wish you well, Zeke, and can’t wait to see you big and strong enough to find your forever home!

We can’t know for sure how Zeke ended up like this, but no animal deserves to starve to death. Whether it’s through neglect, or being born on to the streets, so many dogs like Zeke are across America and around the world, and it’s heartbreaking to think of these dogs starving when we ourselves have so much. Poor Zeke lucked out by getting the attention of people in that daycare center, but others aren’t so lucky, giving up when there is no love or nourishment for them and ready to die as they have lived — alone.

The vital work that Rescue Dogs Rock does proves just how much we need to become a nation of dog adopters rather than continuing to buy our pets from stores on the puppy farm circuit. How can we ever turn the tide on all those homeless, abandoned dogs on our streets and in our shelters if we don’t?
