Italy has passed a groundbreaking bill to strengthen animal welfare laws, recognizing animals as sentient beings deserving legal protection. This historic step marks a shift in how animals are viewed under Italian law and sets a new standard for Animal rights.
But Italy’s progress shouldn’t be an exception. Too many EU countries still have weak animal protection laws that fail to properly recognize animals’ rights. It’s time for the European Commission to take action and ensure all EU member states follow Italy’s lead.
The new law bans keeping dogs on chains (except in rare cases), ensures animals taken from abuse are placed in care, and addresses the rise of animal cruelty on social media. It also strengthens penalties for those involved in animal fighting. These changes are crucial in protecting animals across Europe.
Sign the petition today to demand that the European Commission and Parliament push for stronger animal welfare laws across all EU member states.
