The Guardians of the Voiceless team has rescued a young calf who was found lying on the side of a busy highway with terrible injuries. The calf, Shaku, was discovered by a kind passerby who fortunately knew about the Guardians and contacted them right away. According to the man, young Shaku was accidentally hit by a truck early in the morning and was left with a huge wound spreading across half of his body.
Fortunately, help came in another way. A retired veterinarian was informed about the poor animal and his condition and rushed to get to Shaku to help him. With the help of many incredible locals who came together, the vet was able to save the young animal for whom hope was almost gone.
The calf had two broken ribs and needed as many as 180 stitches! After Shaku was given medical help, the Guardians took him to a cow shelter run by Moni Baba, a man dedicated to rescuing injured cows. Sweet Shaku will now have his home in a safe place where he will be receiving further medical help and be out of harm’s way for all of his life.
