This Sweet Homeless Dog Just Couldn’t Understand Humans Were There to Help Him – Then Something Changed (VIDEO)

It takes a lot of courage for an animal who was let down by humans to turn around and have to accept their help. Sometimes it takes a while for forsaken animals to realize that not everyone is going to hurt, disappoint, or abandon them. This was the lesson a sweet poodle mix had to learn when Eldad and Jackie Artecona with Hope for Paws came out to rescue him.

It started after the rescue received a call about a dog wandering around in the heart of Los Angeles. That means a lot of traffic, a lot of people, and a lot of places for the dog to run. The good news was that he was accepting food from a local student, however, he wasn’t about to let his guard down and he wouldn’t allow her to get too close. After a brief hold up by campus security, Eldad and Jackie followed the dog to another area where he finally took a moment to lie down and rest. It was the perfect opportunity for Eldad to slowly maneuver the gentle snare around his neck! A few moments later, the mission was accomplished, and the dog was named Maxwell.

Maxwell received the red carpet treatment with a checkup, a bath, and of course, lots of loving and playtime. Maxwell is now in foster care with L.A. Animal Rescue.
