Hilton London’s Bankside Hotel Redesigns Suite With Sustainable Materials

There are so many ways in which humans are harming the environment, from factory farming to convenient inventions and daily habits we don’t think twice about. That’s why it’s necessary for businesses to adapt more eco-friendly practices or offer sustainable products. Some businesses are doing their part like Turtle Buddy Straws with their inventive plastic-free straws and Quorn with their goal to get rid of non-recyclable plastics. Recently, Hilton London’s Bankside Hotel completely redesigned a suite with sustainable materials.

The check-in desk and key card are made with Piñatex, a vegan leather made of pineapple. The pillows are made with “100 percent organic buckwheat hulls.” The floor is made with “100 percent renewable and sustainable Moso Bamboo” and the carpet is made from responsibly sourced organic cotton. The mini bar is filled with vegan snacks and the room service menu is entirely plant-based.

James Clarke, the General Manager said, “Veganism is not just a dining trend, it has become a lifestyle choice for many and in turn, we want to be the first hotel to be able to offer those who follow the plant-based lifestyle, the chance to fully immerse themselves within it from the moment they walk into the hotel.” Their commitment shows in that they even consulted The Vegan Society on what were the eco-friendly materials they should use.

This suite can demonstrate to other hotels and similar businesses that it is possible to use sustainable, eco-friendly, and cruelty-free materials.
