“Eat Differently” Vegan PSA Debuts in Theaters Nationwide During Wonka Pre-show!!

Wonka

Movie watchers across the United States are in for a thought-provoking treat as the new Eat Differently Public Service Announcement takes center stage during the pre-show of the highly anticipated film, Wonka. The 60-second PSA, displayed on 1,800 movie theater screens, coincides with the release of the Wonka prequel, featuring a star-studded cast including Timothee Chalamet, Hugh Grant, and Olivia Colman. As a prelude to one of the holiday season’s biggest films, Eat Differently aims to capture the audience’s attention and encourage a shift in perspective towards plant-based eating.

The Eat Differently initiative, which advocates for plant-based diets over animal consumption, strategically chose to air before Wonka due to the film’s thematic resonance with the idea that individuals can be dreamers of dreams and make a positive impact. The PSA focuses on the power of artists to effect change and features iconic figures from the realms of music, film, and art who are committed to promoting the welfare of animals, the planet, and people’s health. According to Lori Amos, an ad executive involved in the project, the advertisement is designed not to shame or distract viewers from their entertainment experience but to instill hope and optimism.

This marks the third phase of the Eat Differently initiative, following a large-scale billboard campaign in San Diego and a spectacular drone show above the United Nations in New York City. The PSA, directed by BAFTA winner Alex Lockwood, draws inspiration from Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s ‘Ode’ poem and the ‘Pure Imagination’ song from the original Willy Wonka film. Lockwood emphasizes the relevance of these sources, particularly in addressing our treatment of the animals we share the Earth with. The poetic sentiment, “Anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it,” echoes the overarching message of the Eat Differently campaign.

In addition to the PSA, the campaign extends its reach with onscreen trivia questions, educating viewers about the myriad benefits of adopting a plant-based diet. By combining entertainment with education, Eat Differently seeks to inspire individuals to consider alternative dietary choices for the betterment of their health, the environment, and the well-being of animals.

As the Eat Differently PSA graces the big screens nationwide, it prompts reflection on the impact each person can have in making conscious choices. View the video here:
