For the first time in Chipotle’s 20-year history, a new menu option is being made available today, and the best news of all: it’s vegan!
The Sofritas burrito — made with organic shredded tofu, roasted poblanos, chipotle chiles, and spices, is now available to anyone craving some meat-free deliciousness. Hodo soy (organic and non-GMO) is the main ingredient for the new dish — and Chipotle chef Nate Appleman thinks even non-vegans will enjoy it.
“We just fell in love with the product itself and came up with something that I think even if you’re not a vegetarian or vegan, you could eat it and love it,” he said via Fast Company.
The plan is to start rolling on this awesome new menu item in New York City and Boston starting March 3, with other locations to follow nationwide, and so be sure to stop in to your local Chipotle when the Sofrita comes to a restaurant near you!
