Half Blind Goose Rescued from a Life of Loneliness Now Happy at Australian Sanctuary (PHOTOS)

No one is quite sure how Snow Goose ended up where he did. The blind-in-one-eye domestic goose was found living in the backyard of a vacant home, spending each and every day alone trying to survive.

One day, a kind neighbor spotted him and started to care for him, determined to keep him alive and healthy and to find him a good home.

Unfortunately, call after call turned up empty – no one seemed to want this beautiful half-blind bird, yet the neighbor refused to be defeated. Eventually, Snow Goose’s temporary guardian angel found out about Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary located in Willowmavin, Australia.

The sanctuary is well-known in Australia as a safe haven for abused, abandoned, and unwanted farm animals. The sanctuary currently provides a home for over 300 animals, offering them the love and care they have always deserved.

Edgar’s Mission has been a part of a number of amazing rescues including the largest farm animal rescue in Australia’s history, saving 752 hens from the slaughterhouse. The sanctuary also runs outreach programs, connecting community members with farm animals to raise awareness about their plight and light a fire of compassion.

When Snow Goose’s temporary caretaker phoned Edgar’s, the sanctuary did not hesitant to take him in after hearing about his predicament. Snow Goose, as named by Edgar’s Mission, arrived at the sanctuary’s expansive 60-acre facility on April 4, 2014.

Already, Snow Goose has befriended resident rooster Big Chief Crazy Horse, who as Edgar’s Mission reports, came from a school hatching project and was later abandoned.

Snow Goose now has a happy life ahead of him – a life where he will only know kindness and where he will never have to spend another minute in loneliness.

Concluding a blog post about Snow Goose, Edgar’s Mission states, “It is through our response to animals in peril like The Snow Goose that we have the opportunity to soar to the greatest of heights by extending our kindness and mercy to those in need.”
