Chloe, the eight-day-old kitten found on the streets, was rescued by Cats at the Studios Rescue in Burbank, California, and thanks to the people at the rescue, grew up a survivor and found her new forever home!
While Chloe’s new adopted family renamed her Lily, the half-Bengal cat is as active as she was when she still lived at the rescue shelter. Because Bengal cats have so much energy, she definitely needed the right kind of family to take her in, and she certainly found exactly that.
In recent years, Bengal cats have become an extremely trendy pet to have. Celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian, Donatella Versace and Bruce Springsteen have helped to make this feline breed a desirable breed of pet to have because of their beautiful fur and exotic, yet adorable, pedigree. However, because these types of cats are often wilder than most domesticated cat breeds, they end up being more than some pet owners bargain for. Just like Paris Hilton made Chihuahuas famous in the early 2000s, leading to an increase in both Chihuahua breeding and abandonment, the Bengal cat faces the same dangers that most “trendy” pets face.
Do these, and other cat breeds, a favor – don’t buy one just because they look cool and they’re cute. Go to your local rescue shelter and find a cat of any breed who you really connect with. Ultimately, you should get a pet because you get along and they match you, not because they would make a nice accessory.
Chloe was lucky enough to find a family that wanted her because she fit in with her new family, which is what every animal deserves!
