It is near impossible to try and watch a pro-athlete do their thing and not immediately want to imitate their awesomeness and give the sport a try yourself. Seriously, after watching Michael Phelps in the Olympics we were entirely certain that with the help of the right goggles and swim cap, we could learn to do the butterfly with the best of them. That is, until the sharp reality of our unfortunate coordination and inability to hold our breath for long periods of time set in … one day though, Phelps, we’re coming for ya.
The baby seal in this video is a little bit like that. Affectionately deemed the “dogs” of the ocean, seals are naturally very curious and enthusiastic animals, so when this little guy spotted Matthew Stanley shredding on his surfboard, he just had to join in! Granted the seal’s flippers might not make balancing on a board easy, but we have to hand it to this pup for his determination.
Remember, if you ever find yourself in a situation involving a wild animal, like Matthew did, it is best not to try and touch the animal or interact with them in any way. Seals might be curious, but they also have a tendency to bite if they feel at all threatened. It is always best practice to sit back and observe to ensure both of your safety.
