Iceland is now home to two pieces of technology that could be the key to our planet’s future: carbon-capture plants. These huge factories are essentially giant air purifiers that suck carbon out of the air, mix them with water, and store them in the ground where it becomes stone after reacting with naturally-occurring basalt rock.

The first plant opened in 2021 and the second is going live this year, 2024. Together, the two carbon-absorbing factories can remove approximately 40,000 metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere each year. But this is only a tiny fraction of the carbon we need to recapture and remove from the air to avoid warming the planet past the point of no return.

Please sign this petition to demand that world superpowers invest in building as many of these plants as necessary to reverse Climate change.
