These two sheep, Squid and Otto, are such good friends that they have their own couple name: Squotto! While these two haven’t had the easiest of lives, their health issues saved them from slaughter. Now they get to live at the beautiful Farm Sanctuary in peace.
Squid was rescued from a Future Farmers of America (FFA) program after his mother accidentally stepped on and broke his leg. The injury caused permanent damage that made it difficult for Squid to walk. Unfortunately, the farmers would not let the sanctuary rescue Squid’s family with him. However, at Farm Sanctuary, Squid would soon meet his new best friend. he was ecstatic to get a wheelchair that helped him run around freely and even got the nickname “Hotwheels” for how much he loved it.
Otto was a “bummer” lamb from a meat farm. Because he couldn’t nurse and had other difficulties moving around, he was able to be rescued by Farm Sanctuary. After taking him to the vet, they found out that he had irreversible neurological issues. Veterinarians recommended that he live with another sheep so that he could potentially learn how to eat and drink on his own.
With Squid’s guidance, Otto can now drink on his own! The two sheep are such good friends and loving playing, relaxing, and roaming around together. Their relationship is so special. It’s wonderful that these two resilient sheep have each other.
